Ductless Mini Split Installation Across Nassau & Suffolk County
Ductless mini split systems are the ideal solution for Long Island homes where traditional ductwork is impractical, inefficient, or simply does not exist. Whether you have converted an attic into a bedroom, added a sunroom, finished a basement, or live in an older home that was never designed for central air, a mini split delivers precise heating and cooling directly to the space that needs it.
Island Comfort HVAC has installed hundreds of ductless mini split systems across Nassau and Suffolk County since 2012. We are authorized installers for Mitsubishi Electric, the industry leader in ductless technology, as well as Carrier and Daikin. Our technicians hold specific manufacturer training certifications for each brand we install.

A mini split system consists of an outdoor condenser unit connected to one or more indoor air-handling units by a small conduit that carries refrigerant lines, a condensate drain, and control wiring. The conduit requires only a 3-inch hole through your exterior wall, which means no demolition, no extensive construction, and minimal disruption to your home. Most single-zone installations are completed in 4 to 6 hours.
One of the biggest advantages of mini splits on Long Island is zone control. A multi-zone system allows you to set different temperatures in different rooms. Keep the master bedroom at 68 degrees while the living room stays at 72 degrees. Shut off cooling in rooms you are not using. This level of control is impossible with a single-thermostat central AC system and leads to significant energy savings.
Mitsubishi’s hyper-heating technology allows mini splits to deliver full-capacity heat even when outdoor temperatures drop to -13 degrees Fahrenheit. This makes them a viable primary heating source for Long Island, not just a supplemental cooling solution. Combined with their cooling capability, a single mini split system handles year-round comfort.
Mini splits also deliver exceptional energy efficiency. A typical Mitsubishi MSZ-FH wall-mounted unit achieves a SEER2 rating of 28 or higher, compared to 14 to 16 SEER2 for a standard central AC system. Combined with the elimination of duct losses (which waste 20% to 30% of conditioned air in many homes), a mini split can cut your energy consumption significantly.
Ductless Mini Split Installation Features

Only a 3-inch wall penetration connects the indoor and outdoor units. No demolition, no construction, no mess.
Zone Control
Set different temperatures in every room with independent thermostats. Only heat or cool the rooms you are using.
Hyper-Heating Capable
Mitsubishi hyper-heating technology delivers full heat output down to -13°F, making mini splits a viable primary heat source.

Our Mini Split Installation Process
Room Assessment
We visit your home to measure the room, assess wall placement options, determine BTU requirements, and plan the conduit routing.
System Selection
We recommend the right brand, model, and BTU capacity for your space. We present single-zone and multi-zone options with pricing for each.
Fast Installation
Single-zone installs take 4 to 6 hours. Multi-zone systems typically take 1 to 2 days. We mount the indoor unit, set the outdoor condenser, run the line set, and make all electrical connections.
Vacuum & Charge
We vacuum the refrigerant lines to remove moisture, then verify the factory refrigerant charge and adjust as needed for the line set length.
Test & Walkthrough
We test heating and cooling modes, verify remote control operation, demonstrate wifi setup if applicable, and register the warranty.

Same crew, start to finish.
No subcontractors. The team that starts your project is the team that finishes it.

What Long Island Homeowners Say
“James came out the same day we called. Diagnosed the issue in 20 minutes, had our AC back running within the hour. His crew installed our whole system four years ago and it has been flawless. Cannot recommend enough.”
“We got four quotes for central air. Island Comfort was the only company that showed up on time, explained every option without pressure, and gave us a written quote the same visit. System runs perfectly. Fair price.”
“Our furnace died on the coldest night in January. James had a tech at our house by 9 PM and we had heat back by midnight. They did not gouge us on the emergency call either. Ended up replacing the whole furnace the following week. Professional start to finish.”
